Feed Me

Tried out a few new recipes this week.  Some of them I found on Pinterest.

Cinnamon Almonds from One Charming Party
These remind me of the ones from Nutty Guys.  So very good I'm surprised there are still some in the house.

Just Peachy Chicken from Gooseberry Patch Super-Fast Slow Cooking.
I wasn't sure if I would like this one but it was very tasty.

Zesty Garden Pea Pasta from Super Healthy Kids.
LOVED THIS!!!!  I could eat this once a week.

I also tried the pizza dough from Flavia's Flavors and it was super good.  Much better than the recipe I had been using.

New to my Etsy Shop

I just love this material!

Melted Crayon Art

I saw this on Pinterest and had to try it out.
It was fun, quick, and super easy.
Shave the crayons onto the canvas.

Cover with wax paper and then iron over the top.

I love it, pretty sure I will be making more of these.

Happy Birthday!

Love is now 4!  How fast time goes!

Having a party next weekend with family so just made a small cake today.
He wanted a train so we did the Brownie Train Cake.

Brownies, swiss cake rolls, oreos, m&m's and some frosting to hold it together.  Super simple and easy for a 2 & 4 year old to help make.

Egg Carton Bats

After seeing this on Happy Clippings I thought it would be a good one for the kids.

What you need:
Egg carton
Google Eyes

To make:
Cut out 3 egg spots
Cut the end ones to look like wings
Paint it
Add the eyes after it dries
Attach ribbon - I poked holes in the top instead of just attaching it with glue.  I thought it might hold better with 2 little ones playing with it.

Love wanted to paint his orange because he said it was a fruit bat.  He says he learned that on Go Diego Go.  Bug wanted to do orange too but wanted to put her bats eyes off to the side.  They are definitely unique bats but I love them!

Kids Books

Picked up some new books at the library.  I thought that these ones were really cute.

Such a good story and I love that it rhymes.

Big trucks and a cute cat or dog on each page, what little kid doesn't like that?

The kids always love Olivia and this book doesn't disappoint.

Book: The Help

I'd been wanting to read The Help by Kathryn Stockett ever since hearing about it and I finally got the chance.

It is a really wonderful book.  Definitely one that I didn't want to put down.

Tugger - A Hidden Gem

Tugger: The Jeep 4x4 Who Wanted to Fly is a great kids movie.  I stumbled upon it at the library and Love wanted to check it out.  He loves anything that deals with cars, trains etc so I figured he would like this one too, but he LOVED it.  After watching he said it is one of his favorites.  I only saw bits and pieces while doing laundry but from what I saw it is really cute and has a nice story.

We also checked out Back to School with Franklin.  I don't think you can ever go wrong with Franklin.  The kids always like the show and it always has a good message.

Super Big Pumpkins

We went to see the big pumpkins at the weigh off.  It was pretty neat, not sure that I have ever seen any that big in person.  At first both kids wanted to touch them but when I wanted to take a picture only Bug would do it, Love wanted nothing to do with getting his picture taken.

Food Friday - Pumpkin Granola

So I found this recipe for Pumpkin Granola the other day on two peas & their pod and I had to try it.  I only had 2 1/2 cups of oats, and I didn't feel like going to the store, so I halved the recipe.  I also didn't have cranberries or pumpkin seeds so I used raisins and almonds instead.  It turned out really good but got a little dark.  Maybe I should have cut the baking time since I halved the recipe?

I mixed it into some vanilla yogurt and it was super yummy.  Plus it hid the burnt taste :) and I think it brought out the pumpkin flavor more.

First Day of Fall

I LOVE FALL!!!!  I would say it is my favorite season.  The cooler weather, changing colors, and yummy pumpkins to eat!  What could be better?

When we lived in Idaho it seemed like we always had one week when the colors were fantastic.  The colors haven't really started changing here yet for this year but I'm hoping to get some wonderful photos with both the kids.

Movie: Love & Other Drugs

I got the chance to watch Love & Other Drugs last night and I really liked it.  It took me awhile to get into it but then it really hit home.  I'm a sucker for romantic comedies so I knew I would like that aspect of the movie but at first I almost turned it off.  But when the movie started to tell more about Maggie and her having Parkinson's Disease that's where I got more into it.

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis which is a long-term disease that causes inflammation of the joints between the spinal bones, and the joints between the spine and pelvis. It eventually causes the affected spinal bones to join together.  Like Maggie I have days where I feel like I can't do anything without needing help.  I want to take care of my family and not have them worry about taking care of me, atleast not until I'm really old!  It scares me that even with the meds I will continue to get worse and there is no cure.

I read the forums with others that have Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) and my symptoms are nothing compared to some peoples and that too scares me.  My kids are 2 and 3 and I want to be able to always be there whenever they need me.  One of the symptoms of AS is fatigue which is no fun for anyone to deal with.  It makes me want to cry when I'm so tired all I want to do is lay down and my kids are still going at full speed.  I just try to suck it up and do all that I can to make it thru the day.
